DELIVERING UNDER PRESSURE

Capturing the hype and scale of the LARGEST SCAFFOLDING JUMP
ever built for snowboarding Big Air.

Even though it was an incredibly challenging project, it felt surreal to capture something I loved so tremendously.

While my backflips and front tail 270s never led me to a career in professional snowboarding, the desire to film skating and snowboarding 20 years ago evolved into an amazing career, capturing so many incredible moments.

Now, we’ve come full circle, filming snowboarding once again, but this time for the pros throwing down quadruple corks and other untouchable tricks.

I’m excited to share a behind-the-scenes post from Shred The North – Big Air World Cup with Canada Snowboard last year.

It was an absolutely insane week of work to pull off the film and additional videos for the event, but it was pretty amazing to have it premiere on live TV and throughout Commonwealth Stadium!

The event was a huge success; it was amazing to see the entire city of Edmonton hyped.

Next week, I’ll be flying back to capture this year’s Big Air World Cup!

PreProduction

Walking into a completely new and unknown project with so many moving parts and hazy deliverable, it was often difficult to get a sense of where to apply attention in preproduction.

Production

With these types of events it’s ALWAYS valuable to capture an array of footage that can be universally valuable not just for the film, but for TV Broll, Highlight reels and a multitude of other media uses.

Post Production

Balancing DIRECTING, SHOOTING, & EDITING is always an overwhelming challenge, especially in short turn around times. Having a quick but organized process for editing is essential and chiseling away at the various edits will always help tie it all together in the 11th hour.

HIGH INTENSITY

HUGE PAYOFF

A large amount of deliverables, short amount of time, extreme cold environment, high expectations, with minimal resources...
And though it took a miracle to pull this off, it was amazing to not just see the videos displayed all around the stadium during the event, but on live TV to kickoff the event.
